ModernGigabyte was founded as a Mississippi partnership in 1999. The primary business at that time was local webpage design and hosting for design clients.

Our principal members were searching for a product that would enable them to do their billing in an automated fashion. They had been using Quickbooks and were a check only business. In retrospect, this is the same place that many webhosts find themselves today.

The choices available in 1999 for this class of entrepreneur were small. They could opt for traditional accounting software that is not designed for the webhosting industry. They can either buy software for hosting with a limited feature set for around $200 or they can buy a world class solution from a high-end provider for several thousand dollars. We saw an opportunity in the marketplace to answer a need with a mid range price solution with all of the features of much more expensive software.

In 2008, ModernGigabyte was acquired by Parallels, Inc.
